This time it'll be different... 2010's top ten New Year's resolutions
Yes, that's right; come January 1st we all think we transform into brand-spanking new versions of ourselves, ready to start afresh without all the bad habits, foul luck and foolhardy decisions of our past lives. Here are the top 10 you're making for 2010 (we don't suggest you attempt all of them in one go):
- Lose weight - you may need to after all that turkey and chocolate, not to mention the puddings. If you're serious about shedding some pounds, do it the right way.
- Be happy - why not aim for the stars? Everything in your life can be great, or at least tolerable.
- Fall in love - only fools do it, so they say, but most of you are keen to meet a special someone. You soppy lot.
- Get a job - unemployment is affecting one in five of you and it's plain demoralising in the festive season. Take advantage of our work and study advice.
- Travel - if you can't achieve your other resolutions, some time away from them all on a tropical beach should help you get over it.
- Get married - it's cold, there are no more presents - why not plan another party?
- Quit smoking -save money, improve your health, stay warm inside clubs and bars... quitting is really a bundle of mini-resolutions in one.
- Lose your virginity - we're not sure you should just jump on the nearest warm body to achieve this, but if sex is what you're after, make sure you're ready before you get down to it.
- Volunteer - Giving doesn't just happen at Christmas. Volunteering is a great way to have unique experiences, boost your CV and meet new friends.
- Save money - recession, recession, recession, that's all we hear nowadays. But if money's what interests you, and you like spending it on shiny DVDS and books, you can win an Amazon voucher in our finance survey. But do a bit of the giving we mentioned above too.
Been there, done that?
If you fancy being original, here are some suggestions for the resolution connoisseur. Go on, we dare you.
- Get your voice in the media
- Raid your kitchen cupboards to make your skin glow
- Take a snogging masterclass
- Get eco-chic
- Get tied up with bondage
Made up your mind? Now go and achieve them!
